One Wish

Christmas time is here, and it’s one of my favorite holidays for two reasons. One, it is when we celebrate the birth of our savior, and second, it was one of my late Grandmother’s favorite holidays. She loved making the home festive and filled with the Spirit of Christmas. I loved helping her put up the tree, hang Christmas lights inside the house, and even bake her famous sweet potato pies for Christmas dinner as a little girl. I would help Granddaddy hang Christmas lights on the front porch and hedges that trimmed the front of the house. It was a magical time as Nat King Cole’s “The Christmas Song” filled the house with Christmas cheer. I know what you are thinking….”Gurrrrrrl that sounds like a movie” LOL but it wasn’t. Growing up in Detroit with my Grandparents was exactly like that.

As a grandma myself, I admit that I struggle with this time of year because the memories of my grandma and her Christmas joy always made everything right this time of year, even though I’m sure it wasn’t. But as a kid, it was heaven on earth to me. Grandma made sure the house was filled with Holiday joy and the Spirit of Christ. But that was then; in the early ’70s, times were different. Fast forward to now, trying to fill grandma’s shoes is next to impossible in this day and age. Trying to keep the tradition of Christmas cheer within our homes four walls has been like a roller coaster or maybe more like a nightmare on elm street.

Our family dynamic is not what it used to be, making it hard to usher in the old holiday spirit that Grandma did so effortlessly back in the day when I was a little girl.

But then I recall a time when I was helping Grandma put tinsel on the Christmas tree, I was standing next to her as she would sitting on a chair, and I heard her mumbling something under her breath. I asked, “Grandma, what are you sayin’? She replied I’m prayin”. Maybe that’s why the home felt the way it did. As Grandma put up Christmas decorations, she prayed her way to peace, love and joy.

As I sit here typing this last post of 2021, the song, One Wish by Whitney Houston came on google chrome. I thought, “If I had one wish, what would it be?” The little girl in me wanted my Grandma back, so that I could decorate the house by her side just one more time. But the Women of fearless faith and Grammy that I have grown up to be wish for this, and that is…

Heavenly Father, please extend your ear from heaven and hear every household praying, trusting, and believing that better days are coming. You sent your only begotten Son through a virgin to guarantee that it would. Father, forgive the hearts that seem a little weary, and Father have mercy on the Spirits that seem less than joyful. Father, fix our eyes and hearts on the light of the Christ Child….your light so that peace, love and joy will fill our homes to full and overflow this Christmas season.

Amen.

Lord, I Thank Ya!

During November, we remind ourselves of all the things we have to be thankful for in our lives. Our family, a few good friends, jobs, good health, a loyal pet, a hobby, a long ride in beautiful weather. For some of us, it might be harder to see because FEAR seems to be ruling the day. But when you sit with yourself, taking a moment to think things over, you realize that FEAR is just False-Evidence-Appearing-Real.

There are just too many blessings to count, and if you are new to the bikers community like me, that list might be even longer! I am incredibly thankful for a lot of things in my life this year, the bad and the good. I’m so thankful, I had to narrow them down to 5. Why 5? Because it symbolizes God’s grace, His goodness, and His favor towards humans and is mentioned 318 times in Scripture. Five is the number of grace multiplied by itself, which is 25 and is ‘grace upon grace (John 1:16).

Grace is everything for nothing for those who don’t deserve anything.

Here’s 5 things I’m thankful for this year.

1- Faith

Above everything, I really and truly thank God for my Faith. Not just any old faith…I thank God for that “Grand Mama Faith” Faith model and displayed by my praying Grandmother, who taught me that Prayer is the key to God’s kingdom and my Faith is what unlocks the door. Faith is a part of me, and I wouldn’t know how to do life without it; it is the only thing that has never ever let me down…For Faith, Lord I Thank Ya!

2 – Family

If I’m being honest, and that is the point of Adventures of Fearless Faith, to share my heart and do so honestly. The past two years have really taken a toll on my family, and I thank God that my immediate family has not fallen under the Spirit of Delusion. I thank God for revealing that which no longer serves our family has been pruned off. Our faith, hope and trust in Our Lord Savior Jesus Christ is stronger than ever! He is literally all we have. Between the 2020 election, the great racial divide, and Covid-19, our family circle has been reduced to, dare I say… A Faithful Few that are determined to hold on to God’s unchanging hands… For Family, Lord I Thank Ya!

3 – Freedom

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom, and I understand that now more than ever before, and I truly thank God that I can move and have my being, living in a country where I’m free to ride the open road as a God-fearing woman of Faith. Nothing holding me back or keeping me down…I’m Free to be all that God has called me to be and I don’t have to apologize for loving My God and My Country… for Freedom, Lord I Thank Ya!

4 – Favor

There is an old saying, favor isn’t fair, and it’s true, but God’s favor is available to all that believe and are willing to receive. I thank God for his favor on my life and on the lives of my children and other people’s lives. I know when the favor of God is upon your life NOTHING! Can stop the blessings of God from getting to you. My Prayer is that the favor of God will chase me down, my family down, and always overtake us. One once of Favor can do what would take an eternity to accomplish…for Favor, Lord I Thank Ya!

5 – Forgiveness

I thank God that I can receive forgiveness at any point in my life, no matter how far I have strayed from God. Wisdom has taught me that I can’t hide from him, and I can’t fall out of His hands. God is not like a man…He doesn’t hold our foolishness against us…Lord knows I have done my share, but I’m so grateful that I can go to God in Prayer, “confess my sin; he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 john 1:9… For Forgiveness, Lord I Thank Ya!

What are you Thankful for in this season of Thanksgiving?

Prayer for Thanks-Living

Heavenly Father, I thank you for your Son Jesus, who you sacrificed so that I would not perish but have everlasting life.

Father, when I think of all that could have happened in my life and in the lives of those I love and cherish but didn’t, my soul cries out THANK YOU LORD! What can I say to a God who gives you everything you need when you deserve nothing at all? Lord, how can I ever thank You enough? Every time I’ve called on you, you have been right there in my time of need. My rock, when I was weak, and my hiding place when I needed shelter from the storms of life.

Father, Thank you! For being my Faithful God, the light that surrounds me, and the love that never fails me. For keeping my head lifted high and my eyes fixed toward your mountains where all my help has come from.

Father, continue to help me be a woman of faith who keeps her eyes on You and praises You, no matter what may come my way, for these blessings (name them) and these challenges (name them) Father, I thank you. I know You are always in control of everything, and everything you control will always work out for My Good and Your Glory.

Father, Thank You for answering my prayers and for being Faithful in my life every day. Please help me continue Riding the Good Ride of Faith while always reflecting a life of Thanks-Living In Jesus’ Name, I Pray Amen

Thanks-Living

The season of Thanksgiving is upon us. Every November, we celebrate Thanksgiving and reflect on life’s lessons and the blessings they eventually turn out to be. For the past 2 years, I can say with all authority God has indeed been my family’s keeper, way-maker, and shelter during these past two years. We have become skilled at looking beyond our current situation and circumstances – be it blessings or struggles – and look to God, as our trustworthy source of all of our blessings.

Riding my Spyder with my husband this year has truly been a blessing for me and our way to escape all the madness that has plagued our country for the past two years. And it has taught me to press into 1 Thessalonians 5:18 that says… give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Faith will always make it possible for you to “rejoice always”

Now, it does not mean to give thanks FOR every little thing, like a child making a Christmas list for mom and dad. It means IN everything; that we might be going through….we are to give thanks. In bad days just as well as the good days, for rainy days, or days filled with sunshine. In sickness or in good health, without or with….Thanks-Living means we can say thank you to God for his faithfulness, no matter the situation or circumstance. We can thank Him because He never leaves or forsakes His own, and for His promise of eternal life through His darling Son Jesus Christ.

Give God thanks because no matter what it looks like, God is still on His throne; God is still in charge, and God will always have the final say. And for that, and that alone makes Him worthy of every praise and every thank you. This is a life of Thanks-Living, a life that reflects God’s Goodness and Mercy, chasing us down and riding along with us all the days of our lives.

May this prayer inspire you to live a life of Thanks-Living to honor our Lord Jesus Christ for all that He has done for you and me in this season of Thanksgiving.

Prayer of Thank-Living

I Ride Different

It only took a few rides with my Husband to conclude I don’t ride like a Man. It’s been a year since my Husband, and I have been riding together, and I have noticed that when a man gets on his bike, he gets on, leaving everything that could mentally weigh him down behind. Like a kid going to see Santa, nothing stops him, holds him up, or gets in his way. It only takes my Husband a few minutes to get ready for any ride were going on.

Here he is waiting on me to put on my gloves and Sena communicator… He has the patience of Job

On the other hand, I have to get ready the night before, get up at least two hours before he does, and still, he’s waiting on me. That’s when it hit me; “We ride differently.” Men and Women approach the ride differently. You see, when I ride, I ride with a Mother’s heart of two married adult children who now need me as their counselor and prayer warrior. Their concerns and worries are never far from my heart and mind, especially in this season of evil vs. good.

I ride with a Grandmother’s heart, concerned about my two grandbabies having to grow up in this crazy mixed-up, backward world that tells them who they were born to be vs. who GOD created them to be.

I ride with the heart of a wife married for 32 years that has faithfully honored my wedding vows, supported everyone’s dream and career choices. I ride as a woman with a passion and desire to one day see this world be a better place, but the longer I live, the more that hope and desire slowly fade out of view and into “maybe I’ll see it next lifetime.”

Mr. Road King Classic and Mrs. Cavatica… Charlotte A. Cavatica

Now, I’m sure Men have things they might worry about when they gear up, mount up, and take to the open road to ride. But I can almost bet you it is not the same for them as it is for us. We ride different. Even our style of bike is different. My Husband LOVES! His Harley Road King Classic, and I LOVE my Can-Am Spyder F3T. He approaches the ride on two wheels, and I come on three wheels. He leaves his worries and concerns behind, and I tend to bring mine along for the ride.

But what’s interesting is that we both return home having met a God who seems to know all about our differences, our needs, worries, concerns, and fears. Recapping our ride once home, I discover, problems my Husband left at home are somehow figured out, and the worries and concerns I brought along with me for the ride have all lost their sting.

For my yoke is easy and my burden is light – Matthew 11:30

In my opinion, our weekend rides are “Rest for the Weary.” When I ride, I will be the first to admit that I often ride weary, weighed down with the world on my shoulders because I ride with the concerns of a Mother’s heart, a bottomless pit of unconditional love, yet used and bruised, like a punching bag. But my heavenly Father knows this, so He lets me pack my worries, concerns, and fears along for the ride. And somewhere along the ride, he loves them all away.

It’s amazing what two or three wheels can do for the heart, mind, and soul once it gears up, mount up, and take to the open road… It tears my eyes when I think back to the woman I used to be and the woman I am now in my walk of faith over fear. I woke up this morning with the song “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus, singing these verses in my heart…

“There’s always gonna be another mountain. I’m always gonna wanna make it move, Always gonna be an uphill battle, Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose, Ain’t about how fast I get there, Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side, It’s the climb.

As women, wearing many hats, there will always be a situation or circumstance in our hearts and on our shoulders riding along with us, and as soon as we get one problem solved another one will soon take it’s place. But as long as we have our FAITH and the RIDE, burdens seem light, and worries become few.

Jean-Pierre Alaux (French b.1925) Woman wearing multiple hats

So I’m ok with the fact that it takes me a little longer to make ready for a ride. I’m ok with all the extra baggage I bring with me when I ride the open road because I know God will meet me there, every straight away, through every twist and turn of a beautiful country back road.

Riding the open road has taught me the biblical perspectives that life was meant to be a blessing, not a burden, and should my burdens get the best of me, take them to God in prayer on the road and leave them there because as a woman, wife, mother, and grandmother, trying to ride the good ride of faith… I Ride Different.

Do you Ride Different?

What burdens, worries, fears or concerns do you take on the road with you when you ride? Has the Spirit of God shown Himself to you on your rides? And if so, how? What have you left on the road in Gods hands and in His care?

Prayer… Never Ride without it.

Declaration of Faith Prayer for Your Ride

God did not give me a Spirit of fear and weakness.

When I gear up, mount up, and take off on my bike to ride the open roads, I have power (miraculous ability), love, and remarkable self-control because I rely on God. I am unafraid, and I am not scared; what can man do to me? Nothing! Because God sufficiently covers me with His feathers, and under His mighty wing, He shelters me so I can ride the good ride of Faith.

Blessing Prayer

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you. May the Lord keep His face turned towards you and always give you peace.

One Year Ago Today!

I can’t believe it’s been a year since I got my bike, Mrs. Cavatica! When I joined the Women of On-Road Can-Am Facebook Group back in May of 2020, all I had was a wish and maybe a mustard seed size of faith, but that was it. We were in the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic; Texas was under stay-at-home mandates. My husband’s job had him working from home, and then decided to furlough him and lay off a good portion of its work staff.

It was NOT! A happy time. It was stressful as hell! Watching my husband work from home in my creative space, as he monitored his email, for that virtual tap on the shoulder, “Hey! Your time is up! We’re laying you off”. The world was going to hell in a handbasket right before our very eyes. We knew if we, as a family, had any chance of weathering this storm, we were going to have to press into Psalm 91 and trust God more than ever.

“Lord, cover us and bring us out of this better than when we went into this”

On the other hand, being a Pastry Chef, I had just declared 2020 as my year to kick the fear of working with Brides and Wedding Cakes to the curve. I had spent $500.00 to take an 8-week wedding cake business class in December of 2019. I had booked three weddings with the possibility of being on a wedding venue’s preferred vendors list for 2020, I was in culinary heaven on cloud 9.

Sweeter at Home Private Cake Tastings with Chef LaShaun

And then EVERYTHING! Was gone! The weddings I booked were canceling left and right. I was devastated big time! I’m talking, “you hear the ice cream man coming, mama gives you her last dollar to get ice cream, and you get the biggest three scoops of ice cream the cone can hold. Then out of nowhere, the mean and hateful kid from down the street knocks it out of your hand.”…that kind of devastated.

It was a “Soul Hurt,” the kind of hurt that only a small cottage business owner could understand. Soul hurts are tied to your passion, which connects you and me to the universe and its creator. So when I came across the Women of On-Road Facebook Group, my Soul had found a new home. I was encouraged, inspired, informed, and educated on these strange 3-wheel bikes that allow women from all ages, races, backgrounds to trade fear for faith, casting their cares to the wind and seeing the world through the freedom of riding the open road.

I have grown tremendously as a Spyder Ryder since taking the Can-Am 3-Wheel Riders Course, passing and getting my motorcycle endorsement last year. My husband and I joined a local Harley Davison HOG Motorcycle Chapter. We have gained a wealth of knowledge regarding Group Riding Etiquette, Riders Safety, and Group Ride Protocol. Which helps us ride like two-state troopers when we’re riding as a couple together LOL.
100 Mile ride through Sam Houston State Park to Grimes County Courthouse – Anderson. The Italianate courthouse designed by F.S. Glover and Company and completed in 1894 features both brick and native stone.

Seriously! If someone told me in 2019, “You know! LaShaun, in 2020 and 2021 the world is gonna go to hell in a handbasket, and it’s gonna look like you’re a movie extra in a Tom Clancy – Stephen King Movie. But keep your Faith in tack because God is gonna bless you with a fun way to escape it all.” I would have never believed it…but God! I have never felt so much a LIVE, and blessed as I do when I get on my bike Mrs. Cavatica and hit the open road with the love of my life, my husband, my best friend, and only forever. I can genuinely testify that despite everything swirling around us, God is holding me, growing me, and showing me how deeply HE cares for me through my rides. I’m amazed how God has used a 3 wheel bike, oddly call a “Spyder” to strengthen and grow my Faith and complete Trust in HIM. Trust me when I tell you, NOTHING! Will test and improve your prayer life, like riding motorcycles…on Texas Interstates.

Fear says “What if” Faith says “Even if”

When I brought Mrs. Cavatica home a year ago, she sat in the garage for 2 weeks before I would ride her. I was scared…FEAR had me Terrified of “what if.” Then the Spirit of God spoke to my heart “you can’t pray in faith and then operate in fear.” So we hit the road and with each ride, my Faith was strengthened with an attitude of “even if”, I’m no longer consumed with “what if” because my life and time is in God’s Hands. God’s Faithfulness has provided an escape from all the craziness on this side of heaven. I can trust this next chapter of my life and journey with Mrs. Cavatica… every ride is a good ride of faith because I know The Author and Finisher of My Faith!

Question!

Was riding motorcycles something that God was leading you to do? How so? Riding motorcycles does not guarantee safety, but knowing you are being obedient in facing your fears, and stepping out in faith builds confidence, even if there is a risk. How did stepping out in Faith build your confidence? Has your faith in riding the open road been strengthened? How so?

Declaration of Faith for Standing Storms

Art work entitled “My Deliverer” by Jeanette Sthamann

Declaration of Faith for Standing Storms

Lord, my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God, I take refuge in you. When the storms of this life flood my soul, You are my deliverer, my rock, and my peace.

Lord, sometimes the situations and circumstances of what I see get the best of me, and I start to drown in fear. Be my lighthouse, so that your love may guide me back to peace amid life’s many storms. Lord, strengthen my capacity to sleep, stand or even rest in the center of your peace.

Thank you, heavenly Father, for shining your light of love through others to remind me of your faithfulness and loving kindness towards me.
In Jesus name I pray,
Amen

Declaration of Faith: God’s Plan for your Life

As riders, we all know it’s customary to “plan a bike ride” on the open roads. Lately, my bike ride plans have been delayed, postponed, and even canceled. With the cooler temperature around the corner, this can be heartbreaking to a new rider like me, especially for someone who has been waiting with bated breath to riding in Fall weather. Then I was reminded of Psalm 37:23, which declared, “The steps of a man are ordered by the LORD who takes delight in his journey.” This brings me comfort in knowing some rides will not happen, and that’s ok. But the ones that do will be ordered, assigned, handpicked just for me, and I’m ok with that because that means if you or, I should stumble along the way, the Lord is going to be there with us.

So take heart dear Windsistah, when plans change, it’s ok. Sometimes the Spirit of our loving Father wants to share in the journey with us, ride with us, covering you and I every mile of the way.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future – Jeremiah 29:11

Declaration of Faith God’s Plan for your Life

My Father in heaven, I know it is never too late to write a better story for my life, and I believe in my heart that I am never lost to you. Wherever I am and whatever I go through, you are always with me. My life and time are in your hands. God, all of your thoughts for me are for good and never evil. Your plan for my life is to make me prosperous, give me hope, and provide for me a glorious future. You have handpicked everything that is best for me in life and presents it to me with great joy. Your desire for me is to live in your abundance. The calling on my life brings a smile to your face, and you always listen to me with great concern. When I seek you with all my heart, you see to it that I find you. You always rescue me from the powers of darkness and always come to my aid whenever I call to you.

Son Shine on Me

My late grandmother would say, “you don’t ever want God to turn His face away from you or take His hands off of you; it’s not a good feeling.” You see, when God turns His face away from us, it is because of our doing. The word of God says, “The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth.” Psalm 34:16 Now that is some severe consequence wouldn’t you say?

Lately, I have felt that God has turned His face away from us, as far as this side of heaven goes. Everything around me screams, “WHERE IS YOUR GOD???!!!” and that question makes complete sense to the natural eye. Until my husband says, “We need a ride!” and we suit up, boot up, mount up on our bikes and take to the open road, in eager anticipation of seeing through spiritual eyes that God is near, shining His light of love on all creation.

Before we set out on any ride, my husband and I always cover our rides with prayer.

“Heavenly Father, King of Glory, Maker of Heaven and Earth, we ask you to go before us and clear the highways and byways before us. Father God, remove every obstacle that may block us from reaching our destination safely. Father God, may our eyes become sharp as an eagle to see anything that would cause hurt, harm or danger on the road or hinder us. Now Father God, do what only you can do. Dispatch St. Michael to ride with us and go before us with His sword extended and shield lifted high, ready to defend us at all cost. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.”

Since childhood, I have always loved going outside on sunny days, closing my eyes, lifting my head towards the sun, and feeling the sunshine on me. It’s as if God himself is looking at me, examine me, searching my heart…Lord, give me a clean heart my soul would sing, or as David would say, “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” Psalm 139:23-24

There is something spiritual about riding the open road and feeling God’s sunshine on you, especially when it’s a sunrise. The morning is anew; the sky is awash in pastels colors only God could have created. The air is crisp, fresh, and calm, and the creeping warmth of the sun rising to meet the sky heralds a new dawn that someone did not wake up to see, but you and I did.

Lord, don’t turn your face from me. Let your light shine on me each and every ride! Amen.

So I ride for all those that did not rise to meet the morning sun. I ride to give God all my Praise—starting me on my way and allowing me to feel the sunrise and dawning of a new day. I ride to commune with my heavenly Father, maker of heaven and earth. I ride to give His Son, Jesus Christ glory because His word says I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

I ride to acknowledge The Holy Spirit, The Comforter, The Spirit of Truth, My Advocate that Jesus said would not leave me, nor forsake me, but that would lead me, guide me and teach me, and remind me of everything that God would say I am. I ride to strengthen and excise my faith and show fear has no stronghold in my life. My life and time are in God’s Hands, and nothing can separate me from His love, but most of all, I ride to meet the presence of God and to feel His Son Shine on Me.

May the Joy of the Lord instantly become your strength to encourage you to overcome any fears that you might experience. Remember, in our daring to be brave, when we throw caution to the wind, casting our cares in Faith upon Him through the ride. Peace, love, and joy are set loose in the atmosphere, and it permits other riders to do the same. Allowing us to all rejoice in knowing we have triumphant victory in Riding the Good Ride of Faith.

Be strong and of good courage,
