Gear Lookbook!

New Color! by BOHN Body Armor, All-Season Airtex Armored Riding Shirt in Black and White with Icon Airflite Helmet in White Gloss with dark Smoke Icon Aitflite Face Shield.

Turning 54 this year and finally feeling confident in my ability to ride my F3T Can-Am Spyder, Mrs. Cavatica. I decided to be done with playing small and shrinking back when it comes to what I like and how I want to express what I like. As a Wife, Mother, and Grandmothers I have done my job well when it comes to supporting and encouraging others to live out loud and do so unapologetically.

It is what Women of Faith do but in doing so, we forget about ourselves. We tend to play it safe when it comes to expressing ourselves through style beyond the dreams we have, late in the midnight hour….dare I say Stylish Riding Gear?

Beloved, this is our time and season! Who says you can’t look stylish and safe when riding your Spyder, Ryker, or Rally?

Let’s face it! Our bikes are sexy as heck and full of personality, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with looking good and having your gear put together by making a Personal Gear Lookbook.

What is a Lookbook? Essentially a Lookbook is a portfolio of your gear collection. A visual diary-style of different looks or styles that you like. Think of it as your personal gear inventory, a visual guide to keeping track of all the gear you have purchased and how many way you can coordinate and style how to wear them.

Vintage Cruiser look: Styles by Road Runner Travel

Making a Personal Gear Lookbook is a great way to keep track of all the gear you purchase and how many ways you can wear them based on riding season as well. Also, you can see the endless style possibilities of what you can wear when you have three or more jackets, a staple pair of riding jeans, tall boot or mid cafe boot, and a riding shoe.

Creating a Personal Gear Lookbook is simple. Start by deciding what color theme you want to wear or what colors look best on you. Use your bike as an inspiration; for example, my bike Mrs. Cavatica is white with black accents and has just a splash of red on the frunk grill and tire wheel caps. White and black, are my main colors when it comes to my riding gear and sometimes I add in a little splash of Red, I can also play with shades of gray and silver.

Start by taking pictures of all the riding gear you have purchased, organize the photos using an Instagram photo grid. You can also choose to print them out, and create a scape book of some sorts…It is totally up to you!

This Athena Women’s Jacket by Street & Steel not only hugs you, protects you, and keeps you warm. It stands apart from the crowd, and will rock with you no matter the occasion, on or off the bike. You can NEVER! go wrong with a stylish Black Leather Riding Jacket….Throw in a Tall Black Leather Riding Boot and its definitely a date on, and off the road.

Paired with the Icon Airflite Helmet Stealth MIPS in Mate Black and Gloss Black with Dark Smoke Face Shield will definitely turn heads at stop lights.

Riding for the slide doesn’t have to be boring; you can look stylish for the slide as well. After all, the bikes we ride are gorgeous and extend our personality and inner Sister Warrior. Remember! God did not create you to be boring or to be like anyone else. You are the only you there will ever be. God made you unique, special and one of a kind, psalms 139:14 says we are fearful and wonderfully made and there is nothing wrong with looking good, and stylishly safe while riding your bike.

So pull out all your gear, Yes! all your gear, even the stuff you have hidden from your spouse or significant other lol and get started creating your own Riding Gear Lookbooks and remember…..

May the Joy of the Lord instantly become your strength to encourage you to overcome any fears that you might experience. Remember, in our daring to be brave, when we throw caution to the wind, casting our cares in Faith upon Him through the ride. Peace, love, and joy are set loose in the atmosphere, and it permits other riders to do the same. Allowing us to all rejoice in knowing we have triumphant victory in Riding the Good Ride of Faith.

A Color Purple Post

“I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don’t notice it. People think pleasing God is all God cares about. But any fool living in the world can see it always trying to please us back.” ― Alice Walker

1985 The Color Purple: Directed by Steven Spielberg.

I love this scene from the movie The color purple. Cecily, played by American actor, Whoopies Goldberg and Shug Avery played by American actress Margaret Avery, walking through a field of purple flowers. When Shug explains why a person should stop and notice something that God has designed and created to capture our attention, like the color purple.

A few weeks ago, I saw a post on the Women of On-Road Facebook Group that caught my attention. It was a poem by Kare Gray entitled “Counting My Blessings.” I call it A Color Purple Post because it captured my attention when I needed a gentle reminder of God’s Grace, Mercy, and Unfailing love for me….Enjoy!

Counting My Blessings

by Kare Gray

I can count my blessings on both hands which is many more than some others can.

There was a time when my legs gave out, and a wheelchair is what I thought would help.
But because I live in a world that’s ahead, surgery put me on my feet instead!

I have the blessings of two special beings, my beautiful daughters, who share my own feelings.
A bond of love that will last forever and stay in our hearts forever and ever.

A sister and family that were always there in my dark and deep moments of despair.
All them I will always place in my heart. There will be nothing that will ever pull us apart.

Also the blessing of a man who’s heart is pure, who will love me until the end I am so sure.
Who I will love forever and more because this man is the one I surely adore.

My home that I own is a place of solitude, where I am most comfortable no matter the mood.
Where gardens grow by my own hand, making life a brilliant spectrum of love of land.
Away from the crowd and with nature itself, I can’t imagine being anywhere else.

Friends and family all around me today, so many names, too many to say.
But all of them play a very large part of making me live with a very full heart.

My pets that I care for in my home are always there, so I’m never alone.
Always willing to give their affection with such vigor and love, never rejection.

The work that I do is considered important! I am helping humanity and being supportant.
I love what I do, and I do it well. Which is a blessing that makes my heart swell.

Well that is eight, and I know there is more. With the life that I have so much more to explore.
I thank God from the heavens above for giving me all the things I so dearly love.

I Thank God from the heavens above for giving me all the things I so dearly love

Beautiful, Inspirational and Grounded

An attitude of gratitude brings joy! – Deborah Herbert

Meet fellow wind sister, Deborah Herbert from Myakka City, Florida

Deborah with her Can-Am Ryker “Hwin” or as she likes to call her…”Whinnie!”

Deborah posted a beautiful painting of a Ryker last week in the Women of On-Road Facebook Group. I was blown away by it and immediately intrigued at the fact that she was the Artist. As wind sisters, we are more then what we ride, we are Beautiful – Proverbs 31:25-26, Inspirational – Isaiah 40:28-31 and Grounded – Ephesian 3:16-19 and that should be acknowledge and celebrated. Today I would like to introduce you to Deborah, her Ryker, her Passion and her Faith.

Painting of Hwin, better known as Whinnie, Deborah’s Ryker 900

So Deborah, before we jump into specific questions about being an Artist, why don’t you give us some
details about you and your Ryker. Does your bike have a name? How did your bike get its name?

First…Thanks for the sweet conversation opportunity! My Ryker does have a name! Based upon a character from one of my favorite Christian authors, it is named after the talking horse (mare) from the C.S. Lewis Narnia series….meet “Hwin”  or as I call her…”Whinnie”!

She has been modified with the heavy duty sway bar, end links, full windshield, flashing brake lights, Shad bag, Knee pads, Nelson Riggs large Commuter bag, Maxmount Rack, Convex Mirrors, Tank Protector, Hand Guards and Wind Hand Guard Protectors, foam grips, wrist guard, full brake pedal, extended reverse bar, radiator protector plate and lots of white accent pieces. She also sports a winged horse on her white hood that I painted and had made into a large decal. I installed everything except the sway bar and links.

Meet “Hwin”  or as Deborah likes to call her…”Whinnie”!

Tell us about yourself? How long have you been Riding? Do you have any previous experience with? Can-Am bike or motorcycles?

I was married right after I graduated from college at 20 many moons ago with my art and teaching degree, and my husband got me started right off with a Honda 200CL. I moved up quickly. to a 360, a 400, a 500 and had several 650’s and then a 900. I stopped riding 10 years ago, because so many riders were dying riding on our increasingly busy roads, with many more distracted drivers. But then, a year and a half ago my husband pulled in the driveway on a Ryker 900 he had just bought! (yes…there were still two other bikes of his in the garage, including a Ninja 1000!) I took one look and said…” Get OFF! I gotta ride this!” The very next day we were at the dealership and I purchased my own Ryker 900 from Ray the manager and a super great guy. Hubby and I both got excellent deals because both were “as new demo bikes”. Mine had less than 75 miles on it! My husband rode mine home through highly congested city traffic out to our home in the country…and I’ve ridden it ever since!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has riding been an easy path overall and if not, what were the Faith of fear challenges you’ve had to overcome?

Because I started riding at a young age and we even did some traveling together, solo and two up…riding never really caused me any real concerns. Even after sliding on a graveled curve, and almost going off a mountain on the Blue Ridge Highway, and driving three days in pouring rain on Interstates on my fully loaded bike! (Camping gear, the works…. geesh!) But…. after ten years off, and now being retired and wise, lol…I definitely have changed up some things! I started slow, around my neighborhood. Then through the state park a mile from our house, then short breakfast runs, then some solo breakfast runs to meet friends. At this point I’m ready for some full day rides in the fall…. but for now, the morning rides are best before the Florida afternoon rains and the heat index goes over 100! I also gear up completely! Boots, leather half chaps and gloves, Mesh Riding jacket and Air Hit Vest, Full Face Helmet.

Please tell us about your Artwork and Art Studio

Now that I’ve retired from being a public-school art teacher at a Visual and Performing Arts Middle School, I’m pursuing developing my art business full time instead of just over summer breaks! I have a dedicated website with a sales platform, I follow a marketing strategy and am slowly building a following and collectors. I specialize in Equine themes, also Western Art, Landscapes and Florals. I also create custom pet portraits and barn/home portraits…and lol, as you know…. I’ve painted my Ryker 900 Whinnie!!! The horses are very special and spiritual to me. I have a steady vision in my mind of Christ returning to earth on a white horse as written in the Book of Revelation. My own small herd of horses inspire me as well as the beautiful wild Mustangs of our Western states.

What are the most significant memories of your childhood, and how did they shape you as a Women?

My childhood was rough. I had a roof over my head and clothes…but a mother who was emotional distant and verbally, psychologically and sometimes physically abusive. My siblings were loved and adored…I was ignored, made the scapegoat or marginalized. I was a great student. (Top 10%), extremely introverted and an artist at a young age. My dear father was also an artist. But never painted seriously until he retired and was inspired by my attendance in studio classes in college. I got my first job at age 15 as a waitress and hostess at a Holiday Inn near us so I could save money to get away to college (which I received a faculty scholarship for and skipped two years, this was totally the hand of God) …I’ve worked full time ever since. (With a short three year break at raising our wonderful daughter.) At age 18 I had basically decided to commit suicide…but I picked up a book called “From Prison to Praise”. It saved me, literally. I surrendered my life to Jesus right then and have been thankful for every moment that led me to him ever since. He has NEVER failed providing for and sustaining me, even in times of great fear and trials.

What has been the Best Ride you and your bike has shared to date?

I love hopping on my Ryker and riding the back country roads to meet friends for breakfast, or a quick riding date with my husband. Seeing several Ryker’s parked in front of a country restaurant always gets people interested!

Describe how you feel when riding your bike on the open road in 3 words?

Protected (by God), Peaceful (Quiet Time) Purposeful (No wasted moments, all Gifts).

If you could share a “Message of Faith” or “Pearls of Road Wisdom” with a new rider, what would. it be?

Preparation and Knowledge are your friends. A degree of safety only occurs with both! Get to know your bike intimately, take out the manual and read it, watch Ryker Rydes You Tube Videos, practice at slow speeds before faster speeds. GEAR UP! Ride for the slide…. just have a chat with someone who has been hit by a car. My husband was hit by a drunk driver when he was a teen, he still has the rod in his leg from the break in seven places. His helmet saved his life. I wear full gear including a High Viz Air Hit Vest for safety, and I just bought Kevlar pants for those longer cooler season rides. Then…pray before you ride, and don’t ride faster than your angels surrounding you! (In other words, don’t ever be pressured into taking unnecessary risks) and thank the Lord for a safe arrival back home! An attitude of gratitude brings joy!

Invest Time Don’t Spend Time

Time is precious. Time is valuably sacred because it is a commodity that you cannot ever get back if wasted. So as a new rider to the motorcycle riding community and a woman daring to be brave riding my Can-Am Spyder on the open roads, it is essential to me to invest my Time where my ride and faith Matters.

I was reminded today that not everything deserves your Time, and not every Group deserves your presence, when a clipart I posted today was flagged and all comments were blocked by one of the Lady Spyder Riding Facebook Groups. Now, the average person these days would take offense, but when you are seeking how and where to invest your time, you thank God for Confirmation. You shake the dust off your feet, pick up your mat and move on. Do not spend any more time there. I like how the bible puts it in Matthew 7:6 “Do not cast your pearls before swine,”. In other words do not give or offer something valuble to someone who do not understand it’s value.

Thought To Ponder

Our Time is our greatest Weapon when it comes to fighting fear when we set out to Ride the Good Ride of Faith. And when Time is spent uselessly, we cannot ever get any of it back.

This image was flagged and all comments were removed and blocked from one of the Lady Spyder Facebook Groups.

Let us consider this. Every Time our leg straddles our motorcycles, and our kickstands go up in the air could be the last Time we ride. So, any words of encouragement or prayers for safety are always welcomed when it comes to me riding the open roads.

Every weekend, thousands of women take to the open road on their Spyders, Rykers, Rallys, Trikes, and Motorcycles. I always pray that everyone makes it back to their home and loved ones safe and sound. Mostly all of them do…but some of them do not.

So, when prayers or inspirational words are expressed and rejected, where danger and the Spirit of fear torment the hearts of women, daring to be brave while riding their bike on the open road…I question the care, concern, and commitment to me as a fellow wind Sister.

This picture and post about how my Spyder got her name was also pulled from one of the Lady Spyder Riding Facebook Groups.

As Women, Time is our most valuable commodity, and since Time is irreversible and irreplaceable, we as women should carefully consider how we spend our days and even our minutes. Time is our gift from God; we are not the owners of it but stewards of it, and we will one day be held accountable for how we used what God has entrusted to us.

As a Woman of Faith, and a new rider to the motorcycle community, I would like to encourage my fellow wind sisters to invest Time in the things and people that fuel your Ride. Invest Time where your soul is fed, your heart is inspired, your hope is ignited, and your Faith is sparked and allowed to be sprinkled with GOD. Dare you fall off your bikes; words of Faith will reach out to pull you up and back upon your bike again.

Declaration of Faith for Investing My Time

My Father in Heaven, please show me what I am investing my Life in. If it is not fuelling my Faith and the desire to know you more and all the benefits of giving you my heart, please help me exchange it for something that will. Lord, instruct me and teach me to number my days so that I may gain a heart of wisdom. Bring order to my mind and my Life and keep me focused on the essentials that fed my soul, inspire my heart, ignite my hope, and spark my Faith, as I Ride The Good Ride of Faith.
In Jesus Name… Amen.

Psalm 90:12; Psalm 25:4-5

May the Joy of the Lord instantly become your strength to encourage you to overcome any fears that you might experience. Remember, in our daring to be brave, when we throw caution to the wind, casting our cares in Faith upon Him through the ride. Peace, love, and joy are set loose in the atmosphere, and it permits other riders to do the same. Allowing us to all rejoice in knowing we have triumphant victory in Riding the Good Ride of Faith.

She Who Would Become Me

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future – Jeremiah 29:11

Life will bring you to the crossroads of facing childhood fears and failure. “Just keep living,” as my late Grandmother would say. We can not be all that God has called us to be and not face our fears. We are the beacons of Hope and Light that God wants to reflect on this side of heaven. God always takes what the world deems as hopeless, worthless, and impossible and makes much of it. The bible describes it in Isaiah 61:3, and he will bestow upon you beauty for ashes, oil of joy for mourning.

You are never too late for the hands of God, and you are never forgotten to Him. His love is always chasing you down and ready and willing to overtake you. He wants to see you face your giants, your fears, and failure because it is in your weakness that He is made strong, and when He is made strong, it is always for your Good and His Glory.

HCC Houston Community College 2016 Graduation Rehearsal, NRG Stadium, Houston, Texas

Here is a little story of how God took my Childhood fears and failure and turned them into The Sweet Story; She who would become Me…Enjoy!

Never in a million years would I have ever imagined Saturday; May 14, 2016, could have ever been possible. So, when Dr. Cesar Maldonado, HCC, Houston Community College Chancellor, asked, “if you are a 1st generation graduate in your family standup?” I stood tall! When he asked, “if you are over 40, standup?” I stood more elevated, and when he asked, “if you are a mother or grandparent, stand up?” By then, I was standing on cloud nine. Why? Because in my mind, not only was I standing up for the Woman I had become. The 1st Chaney to graduate college, I had turned 49 the day before, and I had raised two beautiful, God-fearing, productive adults, one blessing me with a grandson. I was also standing up for that little girl in me that became her, she that would become me. That little girl held back a grade because she could not see. I was also standing up for that little girl who suffered from disruptions in the production of speech sounds, also called Disfluencies, known as the disorder of stuttering.

2016 HCC Houston Community College Graduation, NRG Stadium Houston, Texas

I was also standing up for that little girl who was always mistaken for being a little boy; my hair was short, and I could only wear a little afro. “Jerry! I didn’t know you had a little boy and a little girl?” People would say to my mom when they met my sister and me. I would try and say, “I’m Not a Boy!!! I’m a Girl!” but by the time I could formulate the words and stutter them out… They had moved on.

Over time, mom got my ears pierced to help with the confusion of “she being me”. I struggled through elementary school; Nothing ever made sense to me, and everything was foggy and unclear. It was not until an African American teacher by the name of Ms. Clark at an all-white elementary school took an interest in me and my lack of understanding things in her classroom. “Chaney! What’s wrong, baby?! You should be able to get this, come and sit here!” as she would move me around the classroom from desk to desk.

Most of the kids in the class would say, “I don’t want that stupid girl sitting next to me, Ms. Clark!” But not little Scotty; He raised his hand and said, “Ms. Clark, she can sit by me!” I can still remember little Scotty…. his skin like porcelain, honey-blond hair, with that Hay Hay we’re the Monkey’s haircut. Scotty was the shortest kid in the classroom, and he loved to color a lot. Scotty always shared his crayons with me, as long as I did not break one or color too hard with the crayon tips. Scotty would explain things to me as best as his five-year-old mind could. Still, not even that could help with my struggle. At the parent-teacher meeting, Ms. Clark told my mom to see an eye doctor; She thinks I may have trouble seeing in her class. But by then, it was too late. All grades were in, and it was recommended I beheld back a grade; basically, I had failed.

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him 1 Corinthians 2:9

Eventually, Mom took me to the eye doctor, and MAN!!!! My whole world was made clear that day. I still remember those cute little clear jellybean pink speckled eyeglasses I got to pick out. I still remember how I felt walking outside and finally seeing a whole new world. I felt like Dorothy when she landed in Oz. Everything was so vivid and bright, everything was crystal clear, and at the age of 5, I felt like I had superpowers, like I could see things no one else in the world could see. Because for the first time in my five-year-old little life, my vision was not foggy or unclear.

One thing I know: is that though I was blind now I see John 9:25

I could finally see. Now, some might say: “why is she making such a big deal about graduating Community College?” “It’s just an associate degree.” But for “She, that would become Me,” it is so much more than that. For she who would become me, it was not about the destination of graduating and sitting through 2,600 names being called across the stage that day, waiting to hear, “Graduates, you may now turn your tassels.” It was about the obstacles that I had to pray my way through and the many battles that I thought I had to fight alone. But God would always show up, part the red sea, and deliver me safely on dry land that got me to the day of graduating college.

The journey that would mold me pruned me and grew me up to become a Women of Faith. A journey meant for my good, that kept me safe under the shadow of the almighty wing. Confirming my faith and strengthening my resolve to stand there, steadfast and unmovable, when other students had left. No matter the cost or how long the wait, to remain standing there to hear the words “Graduates! You may now turn your tassels! I needed to hear that, and not only did I needed to hear that, but I had earned the right to hear it spoken over my life. Being blessed beyond measure to know that the man I married stayed to watch me hear those words and witness me turning the tassel for “She who would become me.” Every student that stayed, I am sure, had a story of victory and triumph over defeat such as mine. You could tell by the look in their eyes, for like me, they too needed to hear those words as well.

The wait to hear “Graduates you may now turn your tassels” was long. There were 2,600 Graduates and most of them started leaving because of the wait and freezing temperature inside the stadium. My husband knew if it was only the janitors and me…I was not leaving until I heard the words every graduate longs to hear. I walked over to him, as we waited to let him know I was not leaving, but before I could say a word he said “I know….Your not leaving until they say those words and I’m not either, then he snapped this picture of me.
Guest Speaker at HCC Houston Community College 2017 Convocation

Words we wanted to hear for the child within us who endured the journey of childhood fear and failures to becoming college graduate that day. Throughout this chapter of my life, I often find myself closing my eyes, searching for she who would become me. The little girl, constantly mistaken for a little boy. The little girl with the cute little afro and pierced ears that always stuttered profusely but bravely managed to proclaim, “I’m not a boy! I’m a girl!”. That little girl struggled to learn because her vision was foggy and unclear. Yes, I go back in my mind and search for her a lot lately.

Because I want to give her a big, long hug and let her know she’s going to be alright. She is going to grow up, and we are going to be okay. That all of her broken pieces will one day stick back together and that the sweetest story she will ever get to live out will be the one that God has written for her. She, who would one day become Me.

No journey is ever traveled alone or waisted. It took me five years to complete a two-year associate’s degree, all while raising my children, marring them off, becoming an empty nester and a Grammy.

Declaration of Faith: God’s Plan for Your Life

My Father in heaven, I know it is never too late to write a better story for my life, and I believe in my heart that I am never lost to you. Wherever I am and whatever I go through, you are always with me. My life and time are in your hands. All of your thoughts for me are for my good and never evil. Your plan for my life is to make me prosperous, give me hope, and provide for me a glorious future. You have handpicked everything that is best for me in life and presents it to me with great joy. Your desire for me is to live in your abundance. The calling on my life brings a smile to your face, and you always listen to me with great concern and care. When I seek you with all my heart, you see to it that I find you. You always rescue me from the powers of darkness and come to my aid whenever I call to you.

Psalms 23:3; Romans 8:39; Jeremiah 29:11; Deuteronomy 4:29; Colossians 1:13; 2:15; Romans 8:32; Psalm 50:15; 1 John 1:3

Beautiful!

Proverbs 31:25-26 NIV

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

Every bike should tell a story or bring a message of hope. Mrs. Cavatica brings a message of encouragement to women like me who at one time were scared to trade fear for Faith. Women who are afraid to throw caution to the wind and give their hearts permission to be brave, while trusting in the God of all creation as they attempt to Ride the Good Ride of Faith on the open roads.

Mrs. Cavatiac and I want all Women to know; that fear is only False-Evidence-Appearing-Real. God wants you to live life in Faith, not fear. This is what makes a Woman of Faith beautiful, the Hope and Trust she places in her creator, the Author and finisher of her Faith. That she is beautiful, fearfully and wonderfully made and when she gears up, mounts up and take to the open road on her bike, in Faith not fear, her God is with her. Nothing and no one can ever separate her from Him and His love for her.

Declaration of Beautiful

I am clothed with dignity and strength. I laugh at the troublesome days to come. My mouth is full of wisdom and faithful instruction is always on my tongue. The God of all creation is with me wherever I go and whenever I ride. His Love for me never fails or runs out, I am the apple of His eye because I am Beautiful, Fearfully and Wonderfully made by Him…my life is in His hands.

Proverbs 31:25-26; Psalm 139:14; Roman 8:38-39; Psalm 17:8; Psalm 136; Matthew 19:4; Job 12:10

What’s your story? Does your bike have a message? Does your ride have a mission?

May the Joy of the Lord instantly become your strength to encourage you to overcome any fears that you might experience. Remember, in our daring to be brave, when we throw caution to the wind, casting our cares in Faith upon Him through the ride. Peace, love, and joy are set loose in the atmosphere, and it permits other riders to do the same. Allowing us to all rejoice in knowing we have triumphant victory in Riding the Good Ride of Faith.

Declaration of Faith for Safety

Under His wings you will find refuge – Psalm 91

When you study prayers of the Bible, you start to notice the prayers that God honors and the prayers that are answered are those that repeat his promises back to him. I love declaring the promises of Psalms 91 over my life….so will you – La and Mrs. Cavatica

Declaration of Faith Psalm 91

I dwell in the Most High and rest, remaining steadfast and secure, under the shadow of the Almighty. He is my refuge and my fortress, my God and Father, and I trust Him with all my heart.

He has given me a sure and certain deliverance from the traps of Satan and has freed me from all deadly pestilence. He has covered me with His feathers and under His wings I taken refuge. His faithfulness is my shield and my rampart.

I do not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that lay waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at my side, even ten thousand at my right hand, but it shall not come near me.

I will see with my own eyes the punishment of the wicked. The Most High God, my heavenly Father, is my fortress and my habitation. He has accepted me as His own. I am a daughter in His royal family. Therefore, no evil may befall me, and no plague, sickness, or disaster is allowed to come near my dwelling.

God has commanded His angels to set up camp around me as sentinels in my life. They guard me in all my ways and keep me from all harm. They bear me up in their hands lest I dash my foot against a stone. I tread upon the lion and the cobra. The young lion and the serpent, I trample under my feet. The devil’s power over me has been completely stripped away. God has made a decree (a fixed law) concerning me saying,

“I will rescue her from every calamity; I will protect her because she acknowledges my name. She will call upon Me and I will answer her. I will be with her in times of trouble. I will deliver her and set her in the place of highest honor. With long life I will satisfy her and show her My salvation.”

Declaration Prayer for Guidance

Faith tells me that no matter what lies ahead me, God is already there – unknown

Faithful God, I know every good and perfect gift comes from you. You have consistently supplied all of my needs. When you told me to ask, I was given. When you told me to seek, I found. When you told me to knock, your door was open to me.

Lord, I ask you for guidance and direction-finding a name for my (say the name of your bike). You are a perfect Father, Faithful in everything, who only ever gives good gifts to his children, and you love to give good gifts to your children who ask. As your humble child, I ask that you give me a name for my (say the name of your bike) so as bike and rider, we might become one in Riding the Good Ride of Faith together.

In Jesus Name, I Pray, Amen!

James 1:17, Philippians 4:19, Matthew 7:7-8

You Name It!

It has been months, maybe even years, you have been dreaming, hoping, wishing, and praying for the Can-Am bike of your dreams. Prayers sprinkled with countless hours of research on the perfect 3-wheel Can-Am make and model that suits your style, personality, and budget. But you did! You finally narrowed the decision down and purchased the bike of your dreams.

May He grant you according to your heart’s desire, and fulfill all your purpose. Psalm 20:4 NKJV

I know that feeling oh too well. You see, before I got Mrs. Cavatica, I spent many nights scrolling the Can-Am Women of On-Road Facebook group. Stalking every women’s page for photos of their bikes. I had watched every YouTube video of all the Can-Am makes and model reviews, learning the difference between them before settling on a 2020 Spyder F3T that had to be pearl white with black accents.

You see, when I joined the Can-Am Women of On-Road Facebook group in May of 2020, all I had was hope, a wish, and a prayer. But I also had a picture of the bike I wanted on my vision board next to my bed. I was raised old school by a Grand Mother who taught me if you want something, you got to “Name It! And then Claim It! And then believe

My 2020 Vision Board

God for it” Act! As if you already have it. While scrolling through the Can-Am Women of On-Road Facebook group and other Spyder groups, I noticed almost all the women had names for their Spyders, Rykers, and Rallys. Names like Lucy, Butterfly, Blue Beauty, Black Beauty, Pearl, Itsy Bitsy, Brooklyn, and Angel.

I thought I was the only one who believed in giving inanimate objects names. But I was not; I have always believed that if you provide a name for a thing that is designed to get you from point A to point B safely, such as a car, a boat, a truck, a bike, or a motorcycle, you charge it with a mission to keep you safe. The subject of naming a 3-wheel bike is a contentious one. People feel strongly on both sides. Some think giving a name to an inanimate object is downright, flat-out crazy; for others, it is as important as naming your firstborn child.

Cindy Oaks Porter, Whitehall Maryland and her Spyder Angel. Cindy sent me a beautiful message late one night on how she found her Spyder, Angel and how Angel got its name.

Just about every woman who joins a 3-wheel Facebook group asks for help naming their bikes. What should I name my Ryker? Can someone give me a name for my Spyder? Does anyone have any suggestions on a name for my Rally? Questions such as these always poke the mama bear in me. Why would anyone want someone else to name their baby their blessing, their bike? After all, they did not spend countless hours hoping, wishing, praying for that blessing…you did! It was not their bold, tenacious, relentless, crazy Faith that kept believe for something no one else could see but you.

I chose the name Mrs. Cavatica for my Can-Am Sypder F3T. Charlotte A. Cavatica, to be exact! Myself. As a matter of fact, my bike had a name before I had my bike. Remember Charlotte? The friendly, clever spider of Charlotte’s Web? Charlotte was a spider’s spider, a character who taught us something profound about love, commitment, friendship, and speaking prophetically over someone’s life.

I loved the relationship Wilbur and Charlotte had; when Wilbur needed someone to speak up for him and save his life, Charlotte was right there. Like E.B White said, “It is not often that someone comes along who is a true friend and good writer. Charlotte was both.” Charlotte literally spoke life over Wilbur. Words that made Mr. Zuckerman take notice that Wilber’s life was of value. He was Some Pig! Terrific, Radiant, and Humble.

Charlotte’s Web is a book of children’s literature by American author E. B. White and illustrated by Garth Williams; it was published on October 15, 1952, by Harper & Brothers. 1973 Animation movie directed by Charles A. Nichols

If I stood any chance of throwing caution to the wind while daring to be brave Riding the Good Ride of Faith, I want to make sure my bike had a name worthy and brave enough of taking on the ride with me. So, with all this being said… If you are struggling with naming your 3-wheel bike, here is what I would like to suggest.

“Names have power.” – Rick Riordan, The Lighten Thief

First, find a nice quiet spot to sit and relax with a nice hot cup of tea, coffee, or whatever beverage that will allow you to chill out.

Second, look back over your life. What were some of the most challenging battles in life you have fought and won? How did it make you feel when you came out the victor? Think about how God showed up on your behalf time and time again and turned the tide of the battle around in your favor when it seemed all hope would be lost. Write those feeling down.

Next, keep a mental note on how you feel when riding your bike alone or on a group ride. Close your eyes, take a deep breath in, exhale and mentally ride your bike. How does it make you feel? And if you had to give that feeling a name, what would you call it. Spend some time just sitting on your bike (not standing) and praying over your bike, getting to know it, and familiarizing yourself with all its bells and whistles.

This will aid you in naming your bike. The bike that you Hoped for, wished for and prayed for and if you must ask anyone for help, ask the Holy Spirit to lead you and guide you in selecting a name for your bike.

I believe in my heart that God knew we would desire a 3-wheel bike at some point in our lives. After all, He made us and knows everything about us “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.” — Jeremiah 1:5

God hears our prayers and requests in line with His will (1 John 5:14), so of course, I believe He will guide you towards a name that best fits your bike, based on your journey and where you are in the chapters and seasons of your life.

Declaration of Faith Prayer

Mrs. Cavatica with her Road King

God did not give me a Spirit of fear and weakness. When I gear up, mount up, and take off on my bike to ride the open roads, I have power (miraculous ability), love, and remarkable self-control because I rely on God. I am unafraid, and I am not scared; what can man do to me? Nothing! Because God sufficiently covers me with His feathers, and under His mighty wing, He shelters me so I can ride the good ride of Faith.
